Today, the autumn season’s nationwide tree planting initiative was organized across the country with the participation of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

As the head of state notes, the annual tree planting initiatives in our country greatly contribute to its transformation into a blossoming oasis and increase the pride of Turkmen nationals for the unique nature of our homeland.
Our people have established wonderful traditions, including living in harmony with the environment and taking proper care of it. Today, these traditions are enriched with new meaning, as evidenced by the expansion of forest areas in the country and regular tree planting initiatives.
The mass tree planting actions promote the creation of new parks, the enrichment of the flora of Turkmen land, and the provision of favorable environmental conditions. All of these are important for ecological safety and the preservation of the health of our people.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov’s car arrived in the southern part of the capital, where the nationwide tree planting campaign was set to begin.

After greeting everyone, the Hero-Arkadag Serdar went to the designated site for tree planting.
A representative of the younger generation approached the President of Turkmenistan and asked, in poetic lines, to begin the tree planting initiative.
The participation of the head of state in this noble action, held across the country today, elevates its importance and serves as an acknowledgement that the national traditions, developed by our wise ancestors over centuries, are evolving in line with the spirit of the present time.
Following President Serdar Berdimuhamedov’s example, all participants began planting various types of saplings, carefully selected to suit the soil and environmental conditions of the designated areas, which will allow for the creation of forest areas at the foot of the mountains.
The effective work being carried out to protect and enrich the diversity of the environment is a guarantee of the prosperity of our homeland. The care for nature is one of the major issues of our time. Turkmenistan holds a worthy place in the international community, leading the way in finding solutions to global environmental problems for present and future generations.
The implementation of the large-scale national forest program in our country is a significant contribution to global efforts in the fight against climate change.
Collaboration with the United Nations and other major international organizations in the important area of climate change is one of the priority areas of our country’s foreign policy strategy, as we actively participate in solving important problems facing humanity.
The initiatives put forward by Turkmenistan at various high-level forums have received broad support from the international community. The proposals to establish the Regional Center for Climate Change Technologies in Central Asia in Ashgabat, the development of the UN Water Strategy, a special UN program for the Aral Sea basin, and the designation of the Aral Sea problem as a separate area of activity for the UN, as well as the preservation of the ecological well-being of the Caspian Sea, are all clear evidence of this.
Turkmenistan’s participation in the Global Methane Pledge is also a testament to our responsible approach to addressing important issues of our time. As is known, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov officially announced this decision at the 8th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, from November 30 to December 12, 2023. The head of state emphasized that Turkmenistan will continue to cooperate with international organizations and partner countries in projects and programs aimed at fulfilling our obligations.
Our homeland maintains effective relations with prestigious international organizations, and the inclusion of state nature reserves such as “Bereketli Garagum,” “Gaplangyr,” the Repetek Biosphere Reserve, and its desert ecosystems, into the UNESCO World Heritage List as part of the multilateral nomination file “Turkmen Deserts of the Temperate Zone,” which was prepared as part of international cooperation, is another clear example of this.
During the initiative, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov held discussions with several Deputy Chairmen of the Cabinet.
Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet T.Atahallyev, who oversees agriculture, informed the head of state on the progress of the nationwide tree planting initiatives.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, emphasizing the importance of improving the ecological situation through regular tree planting, instructed for constant monitoring of measures to preserve the environment and transform our homeland into a blossoming oasis.
Then, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet B.Annamammedov reported on the progress of urban development, cleaning up the city, and the construction process in Ashgabat.
Emphasizing the importance of further developing Ashgabat, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring the timely and high-quality completion of civil works in the city, the Hero-Arkadag Serdar gave a number of instructions to the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet.
The city planning program, successfully implemented under the leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, also pays special attention to ecological issues. The expansion of park areas and tree planting contribute to the ecological well-being. Guided by the “Revival of the New Era of the Powerful State: National Program for Social and Economic Development of Turkmenistan for 2022-2052” and the “Program of the President of Turkmenistan for Social and Economic Development of the Country for 2022-2028,” extensive work is being carried out today to create favorable ecological conditions.
In recent years, the appearance of the Turkmen capital has been transformed beyond recognition. This is the result of the successful implementation of urban planning policies under the leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
Like in all corners of our homeland, the borders of forest areas, including areas covered with juniper, are expanding near Ashgabat. They reduce the concentration of carbon dioxide, filter dust from the air, and serve as natural protection against wind. In addition, the green spaces that have emerged in the territory of Ashgabat contribute to improving the climate.
The fact that our beloved capital Ashgabat – the pearl of Asia – has received a certificate of participation and contribution to the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe’s “Trees in Cities Challenge” initiative through greening initiatives is a clear example of our country’s success in developing ecological diplomacy and recognition of the efforts of our people in preserving nature.
The new “smart” city of Arkadag can be considered a promising platform for launching innovations not only in the economy and social spheres, but also in the field of environmental preservation.
