On January 20, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed a presentation by the Accounts Chamber on their work in 2024 and goals for 2025. Financial oversight is crucial for proper fund allocation and program implementation. The Accounts Chamber has undergone significant changes in recent years, becoming a body that enforces budgetary discipline at the regional level. Outdated inspection methods have been replaced with an audit system based on international standards, resulting in Uzbekistan achieving a “good” level in the World Bank’s External Audit Indicator. A Presidential Decree was issued on July 10, 2024, outlining measures to strengthen financial oversight in budgetary fund usage. The digital transformation process continues with the implementation of the Remote Audit automated information system, which has been integrated with 34 ministries and agencies. In 2024, the Accounts Chamber identified new sources of revenue, optimized inefficient expenditures, and prevented financial mismanagement. During the meeting, it was emphasized that these efforts must continue in the current year. The Remote Audit system will be expanded to integrate the databases of 110 ministries and agencies, allowing for comprehensive monitoring of yearly budget expenditures totaling 480 trillion UZS. Identifying additional sources of revenue, preventing financial risks, and monitoring state-owned enterprises’ economic activities remain ongoing priorities. This year, measures will be taken to collect 309 trillion UZS in budget revenues, and audits of projects financed by international financial institutions will be conducted according to international standards. The President stressed the importance of strict adherence to financial discipline and cost efficiency in all government agencies. UzA
