The UN Headquarters in New York hosted a celebratory event for Navruz, organized by the Permanent Mission of Uzbekistan in collaboration with the missions of Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, India, Iran, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Türkiye. The event was attended by high-ranking officials from the UN Secretariat and the General Assembly, as well as representatives from the diplomatic community, academia, and the general public. During the event, a congratulatory message from UN Secretary-General António Guterres was read, expressing well wishes to the countries celebrating this spring holiday. The Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan, Ulugbek Lapasov, highlighted the significance of Navruz in Uzbekistan as one of the oldest, most vibrant, and highly respected holidays that brings people together, celebrates cultural diversity, and promotes dialogue and mutual respect. Attendees were also reminded of the country’s deep reverence for its ancient history, rich culture, and ancestral heritage.
