On Tuesday, LG Electronics announced that its third-quarter operating profit had risen to 996.7 billion won (US$737.6 million), a 33.5% increase from the same period a year prior. Revenue, however, dropped 2.2% to 20.71 trillion won. Net income data is unavailable at this time.
The operating profit was 20.2% higher than the average forecast according to a survey conducted by Yonhap Infomax, the financial data arm of Yonhap News Agency. The company will release its final earnings report later.
