Kuwaiti analytical center establishes partnership with IICA

The IICA and the Gulf and Arabian Peninsula Studies Center at Kuwait University held a meeting to discuss potential collaborations in research and analysis. The heads of the institutions, Javlon Vakhabov and Yagoub Al-Kandari, focused on implementing initiatives proposed by Uzbekistan’s President, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, at the Central Asia – Gulf Cooperation Council summit in Jeddah on July 19, 2023. These initiatives included developing a Multilateral Agreement on Friendship, Regional Connectivity, and Cooperation, establishing an Investors’ Council, joint projects in green energy, a multilateral Trade Agreement, a unified visa-free tourism space, and expanding direct air connectivity. The parties also discussed the upcoming second Central Asia – Gulf Cooperation Council summit in Samarkand and the potential for educational programs and joint research projects. Dr. Yagoub Al-Kandari emphasized the Gulf and Arabian Peninsula Studies Center’s goal of promoting scientific research and the possibility of joint conferences, roundtables, and seminars to exchange ideas and best practices. Representatives from both institutions also explored opportunities for collaborations in transport and transit, particularly in the Middle Corridor and existing multimodal corridors through Afghanistan.
