A meeting was held between the Minister of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Uzbekistan, Hatori Takashi. The discussion focused on the progress of ongoing projects and future plans for bilateral cooperation. It was emphasized that Japan is a dependable partner for Uzbekistan, with several projects currently being implemented with the support of the Japanese government. These include equipping medical institutions with modern technology, implementing digital solutions in the healthcare sector, and training personnel. The Minister of Health, Asilbek Khudoyorov, reported that Japan has provided special medical containers equipped with advanced diagnostic equipment, allowing for improved medical services in remote areas. Plans for constructing a clinic in Samarkand with 800 beds on a public-private partnership basis, in collaboration with Japan’s Sojitz Corporation, were also discussed. There is close cooperation between several medical universities in the two countries, with joint educational programs for training specialists. The meeting also touched upon the expansion of cooperation in medical education. Japan has allocated grants for the purchase of modern medical equipment for healthcare institutions in Uzbekistan through their “Free Assistance to Small-Scale Social Projects” program, further strengthening their material and technical capabilities. During the meeting, grant agreements were signed for three additional projects, which will provide modern medical equipment to the Bukhara branch of the Republican Scientific Center for Emergency Medical Care, the Scientific and Practical Medical Center for Pediatric Oncology, Hematology and Immunology, and the Republican Perinatal Center. Ambassador Hatori Takashi expressed Japan’s commitment to continue supporting the improvement of access to high-quality medical services in Uzbekistan.
