ISRS representative attends international conference in Guangzhou

The annual 2024 Understanding China Conference, with the theme “Continuing the Reform to the End – Chinese Modernization and New Opportunities for Global Development”, took place in Guangzhou from December 2nd to 4th.

The conference was attended by politicians, scientists, experts, business representatives, and media personnel from various countries in Asia, Europe, the United States, the Middle East, and the CIS, totaling more than 600 people.

In his welcoming speech, President Xi Jinping highlighted the rapid changes happening in the world today.

The event consisted of two plenary sessions, six parallel workshops, and 14 thematic forums.

Bakhtiyor Mustafayev, the Deputy Director of the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies (ISRS) under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, spoke at the fifth parallel workshop which focused on the prospects for cooperation among developing countries. He addressed current issues and emphasized the importance of strengthening commitment to the principles of the “Bandung Spirit”, adapting economies to the global crisis, intensifying cooperation in food security, and consolidating efforts to combat climate change. Mr. Mustafayev also highlighted the significance of developing cultural and humanitarian ties in deepening the interaction among developing countries.
