The city of Tashkent is currently hosting a regional forum called “EU – Central Asia Young Leaders’ Conference: Shifting the Paradigm for Sustainable Water Action”. This event, which is organized in collaboration with the EU Office for Central Asia, the Nordic International University in Tashkent, and the Agency for Youth Affairs, aims to implement a roadmap for effective water management. It has brought together representatives from the UN, WHO, OSCE, diplomats, and approximately 100 experts from five neighboring countries. The Minister of Water Resources of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Khamrayev, stated that this forum will serve as a platform to unite young leaders from Central Asia, listen to their perspectives, and learn from the EU’s experience in sustainable climate and water management. The conference includes a high-level discussion and sessions focused on EU – Central Asia cooperation in sustainable water management, as well as the role of youth in addressing the region’s water crisis.
