In memory of Chingiz Aitmatov

The Minister of Culture, Information and Youth Policy of the Kyrgyz Republic, Mirbek Mambetaliev, was visited by an international delegation in Bishkek for the forum “Chinghiz Aitmatov, The Future of the Turkic World”, organized with the support of TURKSOY. The delegation, led by TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev, included the head and co-founder of the Chingiz Aitmatov Institute, Member of Parliament of Samsun region of the Republic of Türkiye, Professor Ilyas Topsakal, Director of the National Center for Human Rights of the Republic of Uzbekistan, prominent scientist, Professor Akmal Saidov, and People’s Artist of Azerbaijan, Professor Sakit Mammadov.

During the meeting, the participants discussed the preparations for the forum, which aims to pass on the ideological legacy of Chingiz Aitmatov to the younger generation and strengthen the common memory of the Turkic world. They also exchanged views on international events and joint projects planned for 2028 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Chingiz Aitmatov’s birth.

TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev emphasized the unique role and everlasting significance of Chingiz Aitmatov in the literary and intellectual life of the Turkic world. He also noted that holding the forum in Bishkek holds great symbolic and spiritual importance, as TURKSOY has continuously honored Aitmatov’s memory and passed on his cultural heritage to future generations.

The sides also discussed preserving the rich cultural heritage of the Turkic world, communicating the ideas and thoughts of Chingiz Aitmatov to the younger generation, and specific initiatives to further strengthen cooperation in this area.
