On Thursday, South Korean aerospace company Hanwha Aerospace announced that they had secured a 235.6 billion-won (US$174 million) contract with British aircraft manufacturer Vertical Aerospace Ltd.
The agreement entails supplying tilting and blade system components for the VX4, Vertical Aerospace’s unmanned electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft model, until 2036. The VX4 is currently being developed by Vertical Aerospace with the aim of a 2026 commercial release, and they have already gained orders for over 1,450 units from various aviation companies.
Hanwha Aerospace had previously signed a contract with the London-based company to provide electromechanical actuators for the VX4 back in August of 2020. The most recent deal was made during the annual Seoul International Aerospace and Defense Exhibition, which is being held at Seoul Air Base in Seongnam.
