The National Leader of the Turkmen people, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, addressed a high-level gathering in Beijing as part of the Third International Forum “One Belt, One Road” on the topic of connectivity, bringing up the subject of transport and communication projects in which Turkmenistan is taking part.

The Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan pointed out that Turkmenistan and its allies are currently constructing a wide-reaching combined network of transport and logistics infrastructure along East-West and North-South lines.

The National Leader of the Turkmen people stated that in the future, this network will include transit corridors connecting the Caspian Sea, Black Sea basin, and the Baltic. He highlighted the importance of these projects in light of the major transport and communication initiatives being undertaken in Turkmenistan, particularly the construction of new port infrastructure on the Caspian Sea.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov mentioned a transport corridor from China through Central Asia to the Turkmen coast of the Caspian Sea, as well as to Iran, the Near and Middle East. He added that this corridor could also be used in the opposite direction – to the Asia-Pacific region and the countries of South Asia.

Hero-Arkadag declared that their efforts are focused on unlocking the full potential of transcontinental transportation, including railways, roads, air services, and the creation of logistics terminals at hubs. He offered the use of the international seaport of Turkmenbashy for the benefit of their partners.
