A forum titled “Sustainable Development Goals in Action 2025” was held in Dubai. The event was attended by members of the delegation from the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, including the Chairman of the Committee on Judicial and Legal Affairs and Anti-Corruption, A. Eshmuratov, and the Deputy Chairman of the Committee on International Relations, Foreign Economic Ties, Foreign Investments, and Tourism, O. Mamatkarimov.

The forum provided a comprehensive review of the progress made in the past period. It was highlighted that the unexpected crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic has hindered the achievement of the SDGs and worsened poverty, inequality, and vulnerability globally. However, the measures taken have led to a decrease in the global poverty rate from 9.3% to 8.5%.

In the case of Uzbekistan, the results of the past year show a decrease in the poverty rate from 11% to 8.9%, with the goal of halving it by 2030. Emphasis was also placed on the empowerment of women in leadership roles, with women currently holding 27% of parliament seats and 23% of ministerial positions.

During the forum, participants discussed the importance of strengthening global cooperation in the post-2030 agenda, with the goal of creating a sustainable, inclusive, and stable global society by 2045. Other key topics included innovative solutions to improve healthcare coverage and reduce inequalities in this sector, promoting inclusive economic growth and job creation, and ensuring universal access to clean drinking water and sanitation.
