Expansion of Interparliamentary Relations

A delegation, headed by Nuriddin Ismoilov, Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, is currently on a working trip to Astana, Republic of Kazakhstan. During the visit, a meeting was held with Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Both parties acknowledged the steady progress of relations between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan, thanks to the strong political determination of their leaders. They also noted positive developments across all areas of cooperation. Ms. Gafarova commended the unprecedented reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The intensification of interparliamentary dialogue, strengthening of contacts within international parliamentary structures, and establishment of interparliamentary cooperation groups were also highlighted. Nuriddin Ismoilov also met with Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu, Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic, during the visit. They emphasized the dynamic development of strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, and credited the regular high-level meetings and negotiations between their leaders for laying a strong foundation for further expansion of interparliamentary ties. Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu specifically praised the well-organized 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, held in Tashkent in April of this year, as a notable example of parliamentary diplomacy.
