A delegation from the Green Climate Fund (GCF) paid a visit to Uzbekistan. In collaboration with the National Climate Center, which falls under the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change, discussions were held on organizing and broadening the range of climate change projects. In addition, the technical aspects of developing a National Program for Financing Climate Projects in Uzbekistan were also addressed. According to experts, the main goal of the program is to tackle issues such as water scarcity, desertification, dust storms, energy efficiency, and air quality improvement.
During the meeting, particular emphasis was placed on the project to establish a Climate Technologies Exhibition in Muynak, which was proposed by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev at the 28th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change in Dubai in 2023. The National Program is set to be presented at the 29th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change in Baku.
