The STEAM Festival in Riyadh included a special event to honor Muhammad al-Khwarizmi, the renowned mathematician, astronomer, and geographer of the late 8th and early 9th century. This event, organized under the patronage of King Salman, was part of the country’s efforts to promote science and innovation, as reported by our news partner SPA. The event highlighted al-Khwarizmi’s contributions to the scientific center in Baghdad, known as “Bayt al-Hikmah”, and noted that only 10 of his 20 attributed works have survived. The purpose of the event was to inspire students by showcasing al-Khwarizmi’s achievements in mathematics, algebra, and algorithms, which laid the foundation for modern scientific and technological progress.
