The Vobkent district in the Bukhara region consists of 22 mahalla citizens’ assemblies. This area is home to various historical sites such as mausoleums, mosques, and places of worship for Khoja Mahmud Anjir Fagnavi, Khazira Chashma Ayub, Vobkent minaret, Mavlono Yakub Charkhi mosque, and an ancient hammam. These attractions contribute to the growth of tourism in the region.

In the Shirin mahalla, known for its unique culture, traditions, and customs, an ethnic-tourism village has been established. Here, visitors can learn about the traditional methods of making dried fruits and sweets, as well as participate in activities such as melon growing and handicraft making, which have been passed down for generations.

Tourists are also drawn to the yurts and a nearby pond where they can see cows, goats, chickens, ducks, turkeys, and hares. The village has over 20 guest houses, 10 craft centers, and 20 retail and catering outlets, offering a variety of services.

The daily activities of rural artisans and confectioners, including the art of gold embroidery and the preparation of traditional dishes, have become popular attractions for foreign tourists. This has made the village a well-known destination for visitors.

An event was organized to officially recognize the Shirin village as an “Ethno-tourism” destination. During the event, it was emphasized that the activities of the Shirin Ethno House should be expanded, and activities such as horse and camel rides, the use of an ancient stone mill, and the promotion of local products should be encouraged.

Additionally, participants of the event planted seedlings to beautify the ethnic village. This initiative was led by Zarif Komilov, UzA.
