Efforts to strengthen interagency cooperation in countering violent extremism

A joint meeting of the interdepartmental working group on countering violence was held in collaboration with the Senate Committee on Youth, Women, Culture and Sports, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the Regional Project of GIZ “Prevention of Violent Extremism in Central Asia”. The attendees included senators, the Children’s Ombudsman, senior officials from various ministries and agencies, and members of the Youth Parliament. The meeting focused on the theme of “Collaborative Actions to Combat Violence: Safeguarding Women’s and Children’s Rights and Enhancing Interdepartmental Cooperation against Violent Extremism”. Discussions were held on issues such as preventing violence against women and children, implementing systematic work with young people, increasing women’s involvement in the prevention process, and improving the mechanisms of coordination between government agencies. During her speech, Chair of the Senate Committee on Youth, Women, Culture and Sports, Orzigul Kozikhonova emphasized the importance of united efforts by both state and non-state entities in the fight against violence. The active participation of youth and women in this process and the need for more effective preventive measures at the grassroots level, particularly in mahallas, were highlighted. Laylo Aslonova, Chairperson of the Youth Parliament at the Senate, proposed conducting training workshops in different regions to enhance media literacy among young people. After the meeting, the participants put forward suggestions and recommendations for further improvement of the work in this area, as well as for enhancing relevant legislation and coordination mechanisms.
