A special conference was held in the main press center of the competition to commemorate this significant event.
The conference was attended by Adham Ikramov, the Minister of Sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Oybek Kasimov, the Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee, as well as officials from the IOC and the International Judo Federation.
Diyora Keldiyorova made history as the first Uzbek athlete to win a gold medal at the Summer Olympics. Speakers at the conference emphasized that this achievement is a result of the government’s and the President’s strong support for sports, and that the development of women’s sports is entering a new phase. Diyora expressed her happiness and pride in her historic victory, and also expressed her gratitude for the honor of having her kimono displayed at the IOC Museum.
