The 57th meeting of the Interstate Council for Antimonopoly Policy of the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States was held in Samarkand. Heads and representatives of delegations from the organization’s member states attended the event. The Chairman of the Interstate Council for Antimonopoly Policy, Maxim Shaskolsky, and the Chairman of the Committee for the Development of Competition and Protection of Consumer Rights of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Khalilulla Turakhodjayev, provided updates on the progress made and the topics on the agenda. Mr. Turakhodjayev emphasized the importance of improving antimonopoly mechanisms and strengthening international cooperation in light of the widespread use of digital technologies, which will contribute to economic growth and improve the well-being of people. The meeting participants discussed the implementation of decisions made at the previous meeting, the main aspects of competition policy in CIS countries, and a report on measures to prevent offenses. They also shared experiences in combating monopoly and highlighted the need to develop new approaches in the transition to a modern digital economy, emphasizing the importance of international cooperation. The topics of discussion included the development of a competitive environment, protection of consumer rights, and regulation of digital markets. It was noted that joint efforts of CIS countries to promote competition and create a fair market environment contribute to economic stability and progress in the region. As part of the event, the Interstate Council for Antimonopoly Policy and the antimonopoly authorities of CIS member states recognized a group of participants for their achievements in developing competition policy, strengthening international cooperation, and effectively resolving antimonopoly issues.
