Today, a special conference was held at the Mukam Palace in Turkmenistan to announce the theme for 2025 – “The International Year of Peace and Trust.” The event was attended by members of the government, representatives from various organizations, and members of the media. An exhibition showcasing decorative and applied art related to the country’s independence, neutrality, and peaceful history was also held at the Palace, generating great interest among attendees.

The conference began with a performance of the song “Turkmenistan – the land of peace and trust,” based on a poem written by the National Leader of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. The song highlights the principles of peace, neutrality, and brotherhood that are embodied in our independent country.

In their speeches, conference participants noted that at the suggestion of Turkmenistan, the United Nations General Assembly unanimously adopted a resolution to declare 2025 as “The International Year of Peace and Trust,” with the co-authorship of 86 countries. This was a clear recognition of Turkmenistan’s efforts towards global peace and sustainable development.

The decision to declare 2025 as the International Year of Peace and Trust was made on December 27, 2024, at an extended meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers and State Security Council. This decision was made in response to proposals from the Khalk Maslakhaty, public organizations, and citizens of the country, as well as the poem “Turkmenistan – the land of peace and trust” written by the National Leader and Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

The emblem for 2025 features a growing green poplar with strong roots and upward-reaching branches, symbolizing the development of our permanent neutral country. The emblem also includes images of the flags representing our independence and neutrality, a flying white Turkmen falcon, and olive branches symbolizing our peaceful neutrality, which have been recognized twice by the United Nations. The green and dark blue colors of the emblem represent our sacred independence and permanent neutrality, respectively, in accordance with the teachings of the National Leader.

Turkmenistan, as a responsible strategic partner of the United Nations, actively participates in international efforts to promote global peace and security, as well as cooperation in political, economic, and cultural spheres. Our neutral country has been recognized as a center for peace in the region and the world, thanks to the state foreign policy initiated by the National Leader and successfully carried out under the leadership of President Berdimuhamedov.

As is customary in our country, the conference was accompanied by performances from actors, musicians, and folklore groups, all dedicated to significant events in Turkmenistan’s history. New poems and songs were also recited and performed, praising the heroic and noble efforts of our President towards promoting peace, friendship, and brotherhood throughout the world.

The conference concluded with a message to President Berdimuhamedov, expressing gratitude for his successful efforts towards the country’s prosperity and international recognition, and expressing confidence that the International Year of Peace and Trust will be marked by even greater achievements and successes.
