On September 4, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was briefed on the measures being taken to improve the primary healthcare system and implement health insurance mechanisms.

Primary healthcare plays a vital role in promoting the health of the population and detecting and treating diseases at an early stage. Therefore, the President emphasized the importance of gradually implementing reforms in this area, with a thorough examination of the needs and demands of the people, especially those living in remote areas.

Another reform in the healthcare sector is the introduction of state health insurance. Work has already begun in this direction, and preparations have been made.

The state health insurance system is set to be implemented on October 1 of this year in Tashkent city and Syrdarya region, and on January 1, 2025, in the Republic of Karakalpakstan.

To achieve this, the “Electronic Polyclinic” and “Electronic Hospital” information systems will be introduced by the end of 2024. Medical personnel will receive training on how to use these systems, and the necessary network equipment will be provided to healthcare institutions.

This system is crucial as it will utilize results-based financing methods in healthcare. The provision of medical services and medications under insurance will be funded by the state budget, and no additional fees will be charged to the public.

The state health insurance system will be implemented in other regions by the end of 2026.
